Iceland Day 5 - Jökulsárlón - Hofn - Detifoss - MyVatn
You wake up to this, what else do you want. Mesmerizing Icebergs floating on Jokulsarlon glacial lake.
Clouds,Icebergs, snow capped mountains - These two souls wanted to capture all that .
As Jokulsarlon was not a campsite, we were in need of one.We drove off to Hofn. In Hofn ,did not know have to pay to get the shower started. Got undressed and literally tried all possible ways to make the shower work prior to realizing you got to pay for it.Paid 100krn to have a decent bath in the Hofn Campsite.
The Mountains have changed their color .
Had a lot of argument over which way to go from Hofn to Djupivogur. Finally stopped to figure it all out.
Tunnels along the way .
The vastness of the mountains.
This picture has it all - The dark brown mountains, the black sand beach, snow covered mountains, the grey clouds floating in the blue sky and the white gushing sea waves.
There were clear instructions not to drive on the beach, we realized it when the car was stuck in the sand.
Lonely log - Somehow we were sympathetic to it .
We enjoyed the view and had our breakfast here .
Reached Djupivogur. It was Happy Orange day there .
Everything was either orange or pink .
Stopped for Lunch , this was the view from the restaurant window.
The house, the shadow and the mountains above .
Stopped at Stodvarfjordur for a coffee break .
Peaked at the Petra's stone collection.
Petra was a collector and a naturalist. The exhibition of her stone collection is really worth the visit.
This tunnel on the way to Eglisstadir was 5kms long .
On the way to Detifoss. Traveled through the gravel road for few kms and our car changed its appearance.
Colorful happy campers van at Detifoss
The mighty waterfalls.
The canyon .
There was Ice at the canyon .
The brave photographer .
Reached Myvatn.
Asked a lady if she knew where the campsite was .She replied ,"French only ,no English".I said ,"Camping,Camping ".She repeated the same two words and showed us the camp site . Where we made instant noodles and rested in our camp for the night.
